Terms of Use

Last updated: May 7, 2026 — Beta version

Plain-language summary: SettlementScan is an informational alert and matching tool. We are not a law firm, we do not give legal advice, we do not represent you, and we do not file claims for you. You are responsible for reviewing each official settlement or refund site, deciding whether you qualify, and submitting any claim yourself before its deadline.

1. About SettlementScan

SettlementScan ("we", "us", "our", "SettlementScan") operates the website at www.settlementscan.com (the "Service"). The Service helps consumers discover publicly announced class action settlements, government refund programs (such as FTC refund programs), and similar consumer relief opportunities, and surfaces possible matches based on information you provide.

The Service is currently in beta. Features, data, and pricing may change at any time without notice.

2. Not a Law Firm; No Legal Advice

SettlementScan is not a law firm and is not a lawyer referral service. Nothing on the Service is legal advice. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and SettlementScan or any person associated with SettlementScan. If you need legal advice about your rights, eligibility, or potential claims, you should consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

3. Informational Matches Only — No Guarantees

Possible matches surfaced by the Service are informational suggestions based on keywords and categories. We do not guarantee:

Settlement administrators, courts, and government agencies are the authoritative sources. You must verify each opportunity directly on its official settlement or refund website before relying on any information shown here.

4. You Are Responsible for Filing Your Own Claims

SettlementScan does not file claims on your behalf. We do not automatically submit claim forms, sign legal documents, or act as your representative with any settlement administrator, court, government agency, or refund program. You are solely responsible for:

5. Beta Data Limitations

During the beta, our database is small, may be incomplete, and may contain stale entries. Some links point to third-party trackers (for example, ClassAction.org or Top Class Actions) rather than the official settlement administrator. You should always click through to and rely on the official settlement or refund site identified in the matching record.

6. Accounts

You may create an account to receive alerts and save matches. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@settlementscan.com.

7. Subscriptions and Payment

If we offer paid features (such as a SettlementScan Pro subscription with a free trial period), payments are processed by our payment provider (currently Stripe). The terms of any free trial, recurring charge, billing cycle, refund, and cancellation are governed by the checkout flow at the time you subscribe and by Stripe's own terms. By subscribing you authorize the disclosed recurring charge until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the account/billing flow we provide.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) scrape, copy, or redistribute the database in bulk; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service; (d) interfere with the Service's operation; or (e) use the Service to give legal advice to others.

9. Third-Party Links

The Service links to third-party websites operated by settlement administrators, courts, government agencies, news outlets, and trackers. We do not control these sites, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information shown will lead to any payment.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SettlementScan and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or settlement payments, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) US $50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SettlementScan and its operators from any claim arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your interaction with any settlement, refund, or third-party program identified through the Service.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@settlementscan.com.
